I basically agree with everything you have said, although the
sourceforge part isn't as important to me as the freshmeat part. I
think js.o does a decent job at the former but a bad job at the
latter. (Nothing personal to the admins.)

Well I disagree this needs to be split for a couple of reasons:
- I happen to like the domain name jabberstudio.org
- While I agree that the two needs are different, I see no reason why
they cannot be fulfilled using the same tool.
Also all projects are different. You might want to use some of js.o's
services but not others, making you a half-breed between the two
needs. My own example is that Psi is self-hosted, but we certainly do
have a Sourceforge listing, and we use them to mirror all of our
official releases. Incidentally we have js.o and fm.net listings too.
So, js.o could certainly improve.
