I think I want to do both of them. First transport RFC2822 over XMPP, second write a Jabber-based e-mail client. It just liked such scenario:
1) We can write an e-mail and transport it like an IM message over XMPP. The e-mail can be sent to another Jabber-based e-mail server or client, it can also be sent to an ordinary e-mail server or client through a XMPP gateway. The differences between Jabber-based and ordinary are security and near-synchrony.
2) Jabber-based e-mail client can receive the e-mail both from ordinary and Jabber-based e-mail server. And it can also recieve IM message.
3) The messages such as e-mail and IM can be represented in the same format. They can be stored and searched in the same way.
Those are my primary ideas. Maybe They are insufficient and even wrong. I hope we could share our ideas. Thanks!
