FWIW, Aaron Colwell has since contributed Real Producer plugins for 
vorbis and theora. I'm not sure about the license status though; the 
binaries he posted just says RPSL.

At this point I think it's more important to spec a way to do capability 
discovery and session initiation for some established standard like RTP 
and let other client developers either integrate support or hand off to 
another app like the work gnomemeeting has been doing. Once there's a 
standard it's easy enough to contribute support to whatever app one 
cares to.
