I received that too and have looked into the specs.
The API seems pretty staightforward, even if doesn't match the Jabber
protocol 100%. I think an open-source implementation of it with the XMPP
backend would be nice to have (and a Wireless Village backend would be
fabulous too).
While we're at it, we could -- for a change -- create a modern XMPP
compliant library using the latest J2SE 5 goodness like SASL and
SSLEngine.
