Twisted (http://twistedmatrix.com/) is also a very popular framework, 
although not Jabber-only.

As far as i know, there is no 'official' python library (nor one in any
other language). I never programmed a Python Jabber client before, so someone 
else will have to inform you on what library is probably best.
