Modifying it to use a zeroconf discovered server should be even easier.  
Both can be useful of course. In any case DNS-SD is very easy to use. I  
took me about an evening to hack something together with JSO and jmDNS.  
(Since I have neither iChat nor Trillian Pro it is not compatible).

What are the good Java based client out there? Any that support multiple  
accounts like Psi does? I might take a look at it
