This appears to be very similar to paragraph 3 of the
Berkely license of the 1990's....use our software and
Credit us (UCB or OpenSSL) for our code.
Not much to ask. ;)
Surely we can credit folks for their work that they have
Allowed us to use. Surely the GPL is not written to deny
People credit for their work.
Please bear with me, but where in the GPL is this prohibited?
Jonathan

The OpenSSL license states:
* 3. All advertising materials mentioning features or use of this
* software must display the following acknowledgment:
* "This product includes software developed by the OpenSSL Project
* for use in the OpenSSL Toolkit. (http://www.openssl.org/)"
...
* 6. Redistributions of any form whatsoever must retain the following
* acknowledgment:
* "This product includes software developed by the OpenSSL Project
* for use in the OpenSSL Toolkit (http://www.openssl.org/)"
The GPL license prohibits any restrictions other than those of the GPL
license itself.
