Hi,
I need your advice and your opinion about JIDs in public chat rooms.
LLuna is a Jabber groupchat client. It not only shows the name but also
an avatar and other user specific data. For that to do, any client must
be able to get the user specific data of other occupants in a room. In
general the only thing the client knows is the other users' room JID,
not the real JID.
Do you have any idea how one client could get the avatar of another user
without knowing the real JID of that user?
Publishing the real JID is not a good idea, because the Jabber anti-spam
policy is to conceal the real JID as much as possible.
Requesting tha avatar from the other client is also not a good idea,
because this means that when you enter a room you will get 20 avatar
requests. Responses will fill your karma limit even if they do not carry
the avatar image data.
Any ideas?
