I don't think so.  The legacy protocol probably can't even _handle_ sending 
contacts to the other person.

The idea is, when two Jabber users are connected to the same JIT, you have 
*that JIT* send a jabber:x:roster to each user, down their Jabber 
connections.  The legacy transport doesn't enter into the matter at all.  In 
fact, the goal is to stop using it entirely! :-)
