[jdev] Charset conversion and Net::Jabber (perl)

Hi!

After I made a dist-upgrade on my Debian sid system, I have problems
with Net::Jabber.
Messages, that I read from a SQL database are already stored in UTF-8 -
but when I send them as Jabber messages, they arrive broken (looks like
the UTF-8 encoding had been considered as ISO-8859-1 and has been
converted to UTF-8).

Does anybody know what might be the problem? Is it Net::Jabber that has
changed its charset handling or is it the DBI driver that already
converts the messages?
