I am trying to find a Jabber client that is compatible with some
ancient Sun workstations that we are stuck with (no chance of updating).
After having spent a lot of time at Jabberstudio, I found several
clients that are command line or java based but all of those require
other modules or libraries that aren't on those Suns. There is Java
but the problem is that it is really old. So far, the only app that
works with these Suns is JabberApplet. The only real problem I have
with JabberApplet is that when a user sends a chat message, the XML
generated does not contain a type= and an Exodus user will get it as
a message instead of a chat.
From what I see at Jabberstudio and this group's archive, JabberApplet
seems to be dead. The contacts at http://jabberapplet.jabberstudio.org/
just point to this list so I am hoping someone here knows something
about it. Is anyone still working on this program? I would like to
tamper with JabberApplet if no one is but I am rather stuck there too.
How can I get the entire project? The annonymous access to checkout
cvs files was confusing for me. Are there build instructions?
