[jdev] C/C++ component library

Hi,
 
I was wondering if anyone had a suggestion on a C or C++ library to use to build a component.  The list of libraries at jabber.org mention JECL and oajabber.  Does anyone have an opinion on these?  Or a preference?
 
Also, it is hard to find much discussion or documentation on either of these libraries.  Can anyone point me to a good resource or some example code?
 
Are there other oprions out there?
