I've done my share of news->Jabber (including RSS) stuff with Mimir. It is a
pubsub based news publication system. Checkout [1].

Also, I've been working on an XML based blog engine with support for Mimir.
You can read about it here [2]. Joe has been doing some Jabber -> Blog stuff,
which you can read about here [3,4]. So it is not like nobody has done anything
in this field since 2001.
