A very interesting discussion but aren't we reinventing the wheel here?

Maybe it's a good idea to figure out what existing (closed/open) 
solutions are out there? People have thought about these problems a lot 
harder and longer than we every will :D We are trying to create a great 
IM platform (and more), other people/companies/groups are specialized in 
providing audio/video conferencing solutions.
