Hi Adrian,

Check out the new RhymBox v1.6
http://www.rhymbox.com/

One of the cool new features is the ability to send mass messages to 
multiple people in your contact list.
Right click on a group name and select "Broadcast message".
You can choose either entire groups or multiple users from different groups.

No one seems to be spamming with RhymBox so far. ;-)
It only sends those messages to people on the contact list so it is not 
an issue.
