[JDEV] adressing to hotmail account

I have created an environment including a SER (simple express router) and a jabber server.
we want to send a sip msg to for ex. ICQ, this is not a problem, it´s working fine. 
The problem though is that the SIP protocol we use (nist) does not support the "%"-chartacter that is needed for the msn-adress (lucy_loo%hotmail.com at msn.buisniss.com), can it be replaced by some other character and in that case how and there do I do that.
