Why not pick up Gabber2 or Gabber development? I think it's still a 
very populair client. If you're looking for a well architected client + 
library for linux I'd hardly say Exodus. My personal opinion on Kylix 
aside ;) old Delphi projects are hardly portable to Kylix. Only if 
you'd start a new project now you could keep it pretty portable. 

That being said, it's not like there is a shortage of good opensource 
clients for linux! Psi is at 0.8.7(!) right now, and I trust Justin 
that there *will* be a Psi 0.8.8 (with GPG encryption as promised :P 
yay!).
