well.

 I just don't seem to understand, what do you mean by
webclient ? Technically speaking the jabber applet
is a web client.

 * do you mean purely http+html compliant (lynx-compliant ?)
 * what is the gain ? (comparing to applet/php/perl cgi?)
 * you're transporting chatting data, aren't you ?
