You don't need to write a server to implement this. Just add some extensions to
various message or iq stanzas, and write a client which can interpret them. The
server will pass along all data it doesn't "understand" as long as you use one
of the 3 primary stanzas (message and iq-s seem most appropriate for this type
of thing though).
