Sure, if I want to subscribe directly to a service on some server:
slashdot.rss.jabber.org
for example.
And I agree, this sucks for client GUIs... there is no good way to handle this.
The way I've choosen to do this in Exodus, is to have a "magic group" (user
definable). So any item in that group gets a different right-click popup and
dbl-click behavior than other items.
