I have the same problem. It is the second time when it stops connecting.
The last time was 02.12.2003 - about 2 weeks ago and I cured it by change of 
IP address - so icq.com see me under another IP. But at this time I fear to 
change IP - I have very limited set of IP's so the pot will be empty soon.
I will try now the method that was posted at sometime in 
jabber-users at jabber.ru :
>     $IPTABLES -t mangle -A OUTPUT -p tcp -d 64.12.161.0/24 -j ECN
> --ecn-tcp-remove
>     $IPTABLES -t mangle -A OUTPUT -p tcp -d 64.12.200.0/24 -j ECN
> --ecn-tcp-remove
>     $IPTABLES -t mangle -A OUTPUT -p tcp -d 205.188.179.0/24 -j ECN
> --ecn-tcp-remove
