this is even more true in germany, where your pplication is only lightly
checked. Especially it is not checked if prior art exists or if patents
overlap(!). It is your responsibility to check this. If you are affected by
a patent, you have to defend yourself and proof in front of the court that
the patent is not legal. In that case you have to pay to let it be removed
by the patent office (funny, isnt it?:).

So in short the patent office gets payed for aquiring a patent, and gets
paied for deleting a patent, is not responsible for checking the patent and
is generally not helpfull to search for existing ones. Isnt that service?

it is only expensive if you sue somebody who hasa actually the money to
fight against you. Normally most ppl do not have the money to defend their
claim that the patent is illegal.
