[JDEV] Can jabber ask questions (i.e. polling)?

Hello Developers,

We are using Jabber as a way for student's to communicate while watching
a live streaming video.

We are wondering if it's possible to add a "polling function" to our IM
sessions where a moderator could ask a question of
everyone in an IM session (chat room) and participants could respond to
a particular question posed by an Event Manager (the moderator) with an
available response selected from a dropdown (e.g., yes, no, perhaps) or
maybe a likert of some sort (rate "1" to "5").  

Perhaps there are Jabber functions others have written that accomplish
this, or perhaps the commercial version of Jabber adds more
functionality like this.
