[jdev] building jabber 1.4.2 on solaris 8 with cc

New to the jdev list here, been on jadmin for some time now, no one had
a response for this there....
 
I am having some difficulty trying to build jabber-1.4.2 on solaris 8
with cc. Has anyone been able to do this? It appears that the
platform-settings file is setup for gcc only (-Wall and -fPIC are not
flags for cc). Does anyone have a platform-settings file they can pass
along that would help?

I have gmake (sun freeware) installed, as well as pth-1.4.0 (zero
problems on those). I also have glibc (sun freeware) installed because I
plan on building the yahoo transport as soon as jabber builds.

Any ideas?
