[JDEV] building 1.4.2 test2 on Darwin/Mac OS X

I have an iBook running Mac OS X 10.1.2 and am having
trouble getting 1.4.2 test2 compiled. I had previously
managed to build 1.4.1 but it was unusable. There was a
footnote in _Programming Jabber_ suggesting that 1.4.2
worked properly, so I thought I'd give it another try.

It ran into trouble finding libdl (or whatever it looks for with
the -ldl in LDFLAGS) so I removed that and it seemed to get
through building pth without further incident.

It then blew up looking for ldfcn.h in jabberd/load.c, which
I can't find anywhere on my system. Removing that include
causes the build to fail looking for dlopen, etc. I just
reinstalled this machine with 9.1, 9.2, 10.0, and 10.1 and
the December 2001 developer tools. I haven't made any
real changes to the system beyond installing some
applications and changing preferences, etc. I am building
Jabber in my home directory as a regular (non-admin,
non-root) user.

Any ideas, or if I can provide more information, please let
me know.

thanks,
jafager
