[JDEV] OT: AOL Patents IM (Patent creates IM wrinkle )

We have an instant messaging system here at Monash called "goofey", that
was started in 1991. A reference:

I use this every day for communication within our division, and although
I'm in the process of replacing it with a Jabber-based system, it still
gets a heavy workout.
