[JDEV] clarification needed

I have a need to extend the jabber protocol for the following need.
I want the mail of chat transcript between the two users to be sent to both the users at the end of chat session.
What is the best method to implement this?
I am trying to understand the jabberd sources.Can I get all the request and response information from the "node" member in the xstream structure?
Please bear with my naive doubts
