[JDEV] Running jabberd on Mac OS X

I am trying to run jabberd 1.4.2 on Mac OS 10.1.3. I've gotten it to 
compile fine using the dlcompat library, but I run into the following 
when I try to run it:

Loading ./jsm/jsm.so failed: 'dlcompat: unable to find symbol "__init"'

followed by a list of the <load main='jsm'> portion of the jabber.xml 
file.  Has anyone successfully run jabberd on OS X?
