[JDEV] Jabber Client Design Tutorial

I think one of the problems we may encounter in standardizing terminology is
simply that an application generally has a specific use that implies one set
of terminology vs. another.

The same goes for the type of application.  Some people want instant
messenger built into a "universal inbox", while others just want instant
messaging to remain a separate function.  Some think it should be part of
the OS as a standard method for inter-application communication replacing
say, MSMQ, which has nothing to do with actual instant messaging between
people.

The technology is so wonderful and versatile that it can be used for so
many, many different things.

Perhaps as a first step we can find some agreement about terminology
("roster" vs. "contact list" vs. "buddy list", "transport" vs. "gateway",
etc.)
