[JDEV] intro

Hi all,

I've just subscribed to this list. I'm interesting in pitching in on the
Jabber development project. How do I go about doing that and what are the
prerequisites?

Also, I am looking at implementing my own IM client, and probably my own
server too. To make it Jabber based the client side seems quite
straightforward (although not looked at the specifics yet), but as for the
server, what is the situation there - is the server extendible?

Is it all written in C? I am primarily a C++ developer.
