David: FWIW, I'm in the process of writing short, simple client that sends
jabber messages from the S/390 mainframe to jabberd... That part is -- of
necessity -- written in assembly language. But I prototyped it in C (good
ole C, not C++) using low-level socket, connect, etc.
Would you be interested in the code? I'm not saying it's perfect -- just
got it up yesterday -- but if you want some working code, you're welcome
to it. In fact, I'd like to donate it to the project as an "Hello, World"
program.
