I don't believe this is true. I think each "document" contains its own
dictionary.

Not true; you mean TCP. Raw IP is packet-level stuff like 'ping' uses.

Not necessary at all. Just define a different port (5224?) for binary
Jabber. This mechanism is already used to support SSL.
