I think that binary XML for WAP is tailored to WML language, and so it
would not
be so efficient with another vocabulary. More over, it requires to have
on the
client and server a coder and a decoder. And since the jabber protocol
is sent over
raw IP, the first exchange from client <-> server would be a negotiation
of
the compressing scheme used. In fact you will end re-building a part of
http negotiation...
