I really would prefer this sort of thing not to be pushed on me. A 100-person
roster with a 2k image being pushed out will generate 200k of traffic through
the server, which would really tax it as well.
Why not have an avatar profile, where you list different images for a client to
optionally show for different states. This could be just a collection of http
links for grabbing png images.
