[JDEV] MSN and Yahoo legal?

In the past, Microsoft released a specification on MSN Messenger. I believe
this is what the MSN transport is based on. This document however has
expired from the IETF (they only can maintain an internet draft six months
after it is submitted), so I cannot vouch whether or not their system is
still 'open'.
