[JDEV] Multicast support

That sounds kind of like the 'headlines' feature. In Windows only WinJabber
seems to support it. Basically, you subscribe to the presence of the
headlines and everybody subscribed gets them. Is that the sort of thing
that you are thinking of?

Cheers--

Subject: [JDEV] Multicast support

Pardon me if this seems off the wall, but I was wondering if
Jabber can support messaging to a multicast session.

On a separate internal network, we are going to be using
multicast to disseminate some information common to everyone
and we want everyone to be able to receive the data.

So, in an abstract way, I was thinking that everyone would
have this multicast "buddy" and receive information from
him/her/it. That information can be received without having
to have multiple messages sent to each and every person on
the LAN -- its sent only once to the multicast buddy and
everyone receives it.

Is this feasible within the current Jabber architecture?

David
