[JDEV] How to extend an existing opensource jabber client to support the aim transport?

Hi,

I’m trying to extend an existing opensource, jabber client to support the
aim transport.  I would like to both subscribe to a new transport and send
messages.

I think that the subscription part is the issue. The client downloads an
existing roster, created on in jabberim,  that includes my past choices, one
of which was an existing aim user.

Is there any documentation or sample code that shows what messages need to
get sent , etc.

I’ve used a packet analyzer and see the back and forth between jabberIm and
the jabber.org but I’m looking for some narrative documentation.
