[JDEV] One more newbie question

Right now, the Jabber client creates a persistent connection over TCP to
the server, and that connection lasts as long as the user maintains the
session. The client does not need to poll for messages, since the server
knows that the user is online and so will direct all messages to the
client as soon as the server receives them
