[JDEV] Server without involving jabber.org?

Sorry for the long reply, things are super busy all around me, and for a lot of
the other devs as we hurry up for our 1.4 release shortly.  You should try 
removing the <update/> flag from you jabber.xml.  That is what is asking for
an update from the server.  Be advised that some clients try to use this as
well.
