[JDEV] JUD transport communication problems w/1.4

Has anyone been able to create their own Jabber user directory in 1.4?

I'm running the latest version of 1.4 (jabber2 from CVS) and the latest JUD transport. The server says it has loaded the JUD instance, but my client doesn't seem to be able to talk to it. 

The search fields in WinJab that should be marked: first, last, and email --are blank. Also I can't register any users. Is JUD supposed to generate a <*.so> file, similar to conferencing? If not, does anything else need to be loaded in the jabber.xml file?
