[JDEV] xdb expertise, please

hello, all. the profiles jig is now active. the mailing list is
profiles-jig at jabber.org and the website is
http://www.theoretic.com/profiles

we are now moving into data storage and retrieval. i would like to know
how basically what xdb is, and how i interact with it. it is used in
some way to store and retrieve xml data? what about the protocol or
language that is used currently by iq messages? is there any
documentation for that?
