[JDEV] embedded jabber

Has anyone attempted a port/recompile of the jabber server to an embedded
system? If so, I would like to know about your success and failures, target
platform, OS, file system, IDE and/or cross compiler, emulation, etc.

Also, along the same lines from above, I would like to know if anyone knows
what it would take to statically link a new transport. Would it still be
considered a transport at this point or a modification to the server? I
realize I would simply build a .o rather than a .so and add it to the link
in the jabber Makefile but what changes (if any) to the server code would
have to be made? Then, I guess we would not use the jabber.xml file to
configure in this transport. Is that correct?
