OK, thanks (and also thanx to Todd for his reply).

In fact I'm using Jabber Instant Messaging (I find it much more stable
than the others Win32 clients), and can't use the irc.jabber.org
server. Just tried myJabber, with my jabber.com account, and it
correctly connect to an IRC channel via the irc.jabber.org transport.

So JIM it's not using the appropriate groupchat protocol to support
the IRC bridging, right?
