[JDEV] New GroupChat?

I read in the news section on jabber.org that the groupchat protocol is
changing:
 
"Posted by tsbandit <http://www.jabber.org/person/tsbandit/>  on Aug 31,
2000."
"With the groupchat protocol changing..."
 
I'm about to start implementing GroupChat support, but I'm wondering if I
should wait, because my work will be a waste once the new version comes out.
What should I do?  Is there any documentation on what the new protocol will
look like?
