This sounds great! I'll check it out.
I'm definately interested in the XML tags, but pardon me if I don't mail you
immediately about this subject, since I need some time to read more of the
documentation on this site before I can discuss this issue intelligently
with you.
By the way. Are you aware of SVG? If so, what relationship would the XML you
speak of have with SVG?

Hello,
I've been working on a graphical Jabber client - I released the first beta
version just yesterday, named Cartoon Messenger.
Basicly you create a cartoon character by selecting body parts & colors.
This character is used in instant messaging sessions to interact with
others - currently walking, shaking hands, high-5ing, hugging, kissing and
waving are implemented. In the near future facial expressions will be
added - everyone looks kind of happy for now :-)
This client isn't as graphics intensive as the client described in your
specs, however more expressions, animations and actions will be added once
the character editor is complete. If you're interested on creating a
standard set of XML tags for graphical instant messaging please email me.
I'll be officially announcing Cartoon Messenger once it's setup on
JabberCentral, but for now you can grab a win32 version at
ftp://www.irctoons.com/cartoonmsgr.exe
