[JDEV] Connecting to the server.

Michael -

This is more of a transport issue than anything. If I recall correctly,
normal (AOL) AIM clients transmit your password in the clear :) So what is
happening is the same as with a normal client. This may eventually change,
but there is no way to hash that passwd inside of the presence packet that
is sent out. But again, it has more to do with how the transports work than
anything else.

I always use digest from my client to the server when connecting, but I
thought I noticed that passwords were still in clear text when receiving
presence messages from transports (MSN, ICQ, etc.)

Maybe this is specific to JabberCOM -- Peter?
