[JDEV] Jabber server problem

I am having a problem with my build of Jabber 1.2. The server is failing
when I try to connect as follows:

> Fri Nov 10 17:30:01 2000  xdb_file.c:161 handling xdb request <xdb
> type='set' to='toby3 at 100.10.50.9/jabber:iq:auth' from='100.10.50.9'
> id='2'><password>1</password></xdb>
> ./jabberd1: error in loading shared libraries
> /usr/local/jabber-1.2/xdb_file/xdb_file.so: undefined symbol: stat

Is this a problem other people have seen or I am doing something dumb?
