No. Meerkat is acting as an aggregator of RSS formatted content for the
Internet, with added functions like searching, etc.
You could, at a minimum, generate your own RSS file, along with pulling
other RSS content, for firewalled clients to access. This is probably
what you want to do. Take a look at: http://www.oreillynet.com/rss/ for
some good info on RSS tools. You also might want to read through
http://www.oreillynet.com/pub/a/rss/2000/05/09/meerkat_api.html?page=1
for a really good explanation of the Meerkat API.
My understanding of what Ryan Eastmon is building with Meerkat-Service
for Jabber is kinda like Slashdot but without having to go through a
browser and having more flexible chat and messaging capabilities.
