Ooh, while flash would be very high on the coolness scale, I don't know
how you would go about making something primarily text-based like a chat
into something vector-graphics based like flash. Especially since I don't
think you can tweak the flash backend via something like javascript or
java on the page (although I haven't kept up with flash since like 2.0)

I categorize a flash IM in the same category as a 3D Window Manager..
Really interesting idea, but I've yet to see one of either that was as
functional as their 'more boring' counterparts. In the flash IM case, I
have yet to see one at all :)
