[JDEV] urgent:email server?

hi,
   thanks to dave for replying my earlier problem about interaction
between jabber server and email server.
As you have said that Currently we don't have support in the jabber
server for email
interaction. That's coming soon.

But i want following functionality.
Jabber server should connect to Email server and check for emails for a
requesting client and if new emails come, inform to that client about
new emails.

What should i do to make this possible?
I can think of two cases.

1.Should i have to write a transport in between jabber server and email
server?
   If this is the case, can you suggest me some guidelines for writing a
transport.?
   I have seen the example-transport.But haven't understood much.
2.There is no need for separate transport. Just use etherx to
communicate between jabber server and Email server? In this case how the
communiaction takes place?
